Don't waste your time looking for internet "jobs." You'll be bombarded with all kinds of scams. Go to the government site http://www.jobbankinfo.org/privateJobBan... where you will find all sorts of real private sector jobs.

Go to your local supermarket, retail shop, restaurant, gas station, etc and find a job, no matter how little it pays. A job is a job and you can always work double shifts or get two or three part time jobs to make ends meet, plenty of people do it. Also, there is no such thing as a may hiring frenzy, people are hiring year round. So if you are having trouble finding a position yourself, go to an agency and take temp jobs. Also, start making contacts within the industry you want to go to. Call someone up and ask to do an informational interview with them, go in ask them questions about how they like their job, how they started off, if they have advice for you, etc. This way you not only build confidence but you are networking, you never know when you will run across these people in the future or who they will know and can recommend you to.
