I am a single mother, on my own and I make less then 25k a year. I applied for a community college 2 years ago and I got full financial aide. I never went because I cant afford not to work, I do it on my own. So, I found this college that offers an online classes and I get my associates degree in 18 months and the course of study that I chose was only going to cost 23,000 with books and tuition. It was perfect but I thought I was going to get Full Financial Aide, but they are only giving me 1/3 of the payments. The school is asking that I take out a loan. Now I am adding how much the class cost and it seems a lot higher then what they told me... Should I trust this school and take out a loan, or do you guys have any advice or personal stories...
Does anyone know how Financial Aide works??No, apply for aid again at www.fafsa.ed.gov and take online classes from any community college. You should get full or at least a lot of Pell and it will cover it all.
Does anyone know how Financial Aide works??Go back to the community college. Do not take out a loan to go to an online school when you can do the same thing at the CC for 1/10th of the cost. Do not take out a student loan when you can get it some where else for free. Don't be pressured into attending despite all the "hype" they give you. Even an "accelerated" associates degree program is just a few more months than a regular associates degree. You won't be able to afford the studnet loan payments on that 18,000 grand (Per year) you'll need to borrow to attend.
CC cost less than 1200 a year. If you qualify for a Full Pell (that would be about 2000 max) it would be all paid for.
