Okay, here's the deal: I have asked this question to the NSLDS people and they pretty much told me that my University has the money and they determine when it is disbursed then they have up to 14 days to issue me a return on a credit balance. How long can the university hold the federal money before they apply it to my account? I am in my fourth week of classes and still have heard nothing about my pell grant. Also, they held my excess balance from my student loans for 14 days as of now. It makes a difference to me becususe I use that to pay down my student loans and knock off some of my interest. Who could I turn to so that this matter can be investigated? If I could prove they were holding this money for interest purposes, I would switch colleges and be an advocate against Strayer.

How do Pell Grant disbursments work?

My experience is that my college held the money for the first six weeks of any semester, that way if you dropped a class or added they still had the money to make any changes for the grant. I received the pell grant for 8 semesters and it was always the same
