I am applying for a mortgage soon and am also going to school- would paying off the CC debt with a student loan at 7% make sense? Does CC debt look any different than a student loan? Thanks.

Yes, take my advice, pay it off with the loan. Even if the interest rate is higher. They will tend to overlook the student loans but not credit card debt. I am learning this the hard way.

If all you have is 10k debt then you are less in debt than most!

So don't worry about that affecting the chances of you getting accepted for the mortgage.

However, if you are giving up an income to be a student that could cause you problems.

The mortgage lender will look at your income and how much you pay out per month - this is when it might go against you.

Anyway, dont worry about it... as long as your credit is good, it wont make a difference.

I would pay off the loan with the smallest balance first... but be sure to save enough money for your house-related expenses.
