I have a bachelor's in business and a master's degree in MIS from a top 50 university. I also have 10 years of experience teaching languages - mostly on a part-time basis. I've been planning to open my own language school for a while, but sometimes I feel I should get a master's degree in Education before establishing this business. I'm planning on applying to an ivy league school, but I'm torn between doing this, which will inevitably add college loans to my finances, or getting a small business loan and start my business. Obviously, the EdM has many advantages, but is it necessary or worth it? I need opinions. Thanks!
Is Master's degree necessary? No, you do not need the masters in ED. Although, you will want to network and have a connection with someone you consider an education expert. That way, any time you have a question, you have advice you can trust.
Is Master's degree necessary?go to almedauniversity.org. I received a masters and Ph.D. from them based on my 30 years work experience. I work for one of the top 5 pharma companies and could not have reached my position I hold any other way. Most employers will allow this degree as valid based on the Almeda accrediation. Good luck.
Is Master's degree necessary? It's your own business - you're already hired and can't get a raise. Why bother?
Is Master's degree necessary?Almeda University mentioned by sanbio is a unaccredited degree mill. It operates out of a UPS mail drop in Idaho. According to the Oregon (State) Office of Degree Authorization, Almeda operates in Florida and Idaho, and was ordered closed in Florida by legal action.
People using bogus degrees can be prosecuted in Oregon and several other states. Texas lists Almeda as a "Fraudulent or Substandard Institution". I hope people claiming Almeda degrees get large fines and long sentences.
