I am a woman, in fair physical condition and I am majoring in political science/government. I am interested in enlisting into the military because I want money to pay back student loans, I love doing humanitarian work, and I want the opportunity to work up to a commissioned officer. I thought about joining the airforce, but they'r looking for technically skilled people (which i am not). The coast guard was my second choice, but it also requires a strong level of technical and scientific skill. The marine core is clearly too physically rigorous for me. I dont know much about the navy but it sounds closely related to the coast guard. So..I'm thinking about the army...it has the most attractive educational benefits and it seems the least technical, plus I can apply to be an officer after serving as an enlisted soldier...but I'm not sure...All i know is I want to make a career out of serving my country and assisting those in need(and pay back some student loans) But in what branch....?
What military branch should I join?Go Coast Guard. It's the best kept military secret. If I could do it again, I would join the Coast Guard (CG).
The CG gets the same basic pay, retirement, and other benefits as the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine.
The CG has the best training and future civilian job advantages than any other service. Also, the CG has the best quality of life (the Air Force is number 2).
The only major difference is that Coast Guard is under Homeland Security. Whereas the other services is under the Defense Department.
