most branches of the military are quite physically demanding at first IE basic how ever once you get into your field of choice it is more about maintaining. with that said ....the marines do the most humanitarian work.....but I would strongly recommend the Coast Guard. But no matter which branch you do choose you are automatically attractive for the fact you already have college. there are more jobs then you can imagine in the military first find out what you want to do take the asvab(military entrance exam) And let THEM make the offers.

One thing I'd like to correct about what you said, and that is that you don't work up to be a commissioned officer. You can request OCS and if approved by your commanding officer, you may be accepted into officer's candidate school. This is normally considered after you have served for a time, like a couple of years.
