Recently within the past few months I've been applying for credit cards/home loans/auto loans, all unsuccessful. I've finally decided to not even fill out a credit app for anything unless it is for a job but I am wondering how long all these inquiries will be shown on my credit report. I am paying off my debt very well and upping my score but I wondering how long all these inquiries will be showing for future reference. 10-20 at least. I finally stopped but give me some slack because I just turned 20 so I wasn't smart enough to stop trying for credit everywhere. I have a few credit cards and a car and other things but I was trying to upgrade and after all these turndowns i've realized I can holdout and wait a while.
How Long Do Inquiries stay on my credit report? From Experian website: Most inquiries listed on your credit report will remain for two years. All inquiries must remain for a minimum of one year from the date the inquiry was made.
For your future reference, never make multiple credit applications like this again....This can make you look desperate and your credit score will tank. Being accepted for credit isn't a random numbers game....so making 10-20 applications won't increase your chances of getting approved if your underlying credit factors are bad.
