Some places that only accept cash are Payday Loan type businesses, and pawnshops. Why ONLY cash, I don't know.
I don't like to carry cash because there is no way of getting it back if it's lost or stolen. With my debit card, all I have to do is call my financial institution, report it lost or stolen, and they will trace further transactions - and eventually prove that it was not me who charged up a bunch of expensive things.
I also like to pay with checks, though recently few places other than utility companies accept them. To me, anything is better than carrying around cash.
I do agree, however, that businesses should give people the option of paying with debit, credit, cash, or check. These businesses get their money no matter which one of these options one uses.
