My partner and I have just taken out a bank loan, to consolidate our debts and have some much needed work done on our house. My partner told his friend about this who consequently asked my partner if he could lend 拢300 out of the loan money and pay us back 拢30/week. My partner is willing as his mates g/f is expecting a baby in a few weeks, and he wants to help them out. My problem is that he has borrowed money off us before, he has always paid us back eventually, but never when he had promised to, and we had it back in drips and drabs, even though he knew it would drop us in the cr***, we have 3 children to cater for. I want to help, but we still won't have enough money with the loan to do all the work on the house we need to, and if he mucks about paying us back it would mean we would have to sacrifice something else. Help, he is phoning to speak to me about it and I don't know what to do!!
Should we lend him the money? The fact that you are asking the question here shows you have doubts and I believe that deep down you know what the answer is but you know that you will feel guilty if you say no. I expect that you feel trapped by this situation, since if you say yes you will loose out and if you say no, then you will feel guilty.
Don't let feelings of guilt and responsibility cloud your judgement, you need to take care of yourself and your own family and if you have existing debt you need to clear that debt as soon as possible without putting any other barriers in the way.
