And that leads to another question. The film industry is heavily concentrated in Southern California. You guys need to talk about where exactly he plans to be working once he finishes his courses. If you're not in a city where there are film industry jobs, will you be willing to relocate? If not, will he get a job in another industry (and thereby waste his film school education)?

Everyone is going to have some debt, I assume. I am going into my marriage with no debt, my fiance has very little, to be payed off within the year. Remember - his debt because both of your debt. Do you really want to be responsible for a TWENTY year school debt? For a course, that sadly is a dream that will most likely not come true.
It's your life too, talk to him - tell him that this is worrying you. You're involved in a long distance relationship, I'm not sure if it's always been like that, or has just turned into one. But the mind set there is different too, because the other person is not right there with you, and the daily worries arn't there yet either. He may not be thinking of the effect on you.
