A mortgage company didn't file the proper papers when I paid off my loan. Now it shows that they are still the lien holder and I can't sell my house. I am having trouble finding them. I am afraid that they may have gone out of business.

talk to the circuit clerks office i think that's the right one ,anyway tell them the problem and they can usually give you some ideas,and type in general search the name of the company if they are still in business it will pop up,also check at the tax assors office and the recorder of deeds and again explain all that is involved they will try to help, also call a bank and see if they know if that company has changed names or any info, and if all else fails you will need to hire an attorney good luck
