First you did not say why you need a car. If your current vehicle is in need of repair a repair likely will cost less than a new car. So if you repair the car, you now can repair your credit. GO pull a credit report (they're free with declined credit or once annually) and see exactly what it is that makes it bad. Bankruptcy can be over come in a couple years regardless of what a "dealer" may tell you to justify a high interest rate. The dealer sells your contract to a lender and adds to the quoted rate they are willing to give so that they make money on the loan as well, adding to their bottom line profit margins. So they make money on the sale and the loan. If you make payments for 12-24 months w/o being late and pay off any "bad" noted on the report, you will no longer have to resort to forums such as this. Good credit is not the result of rocket science, it is simply the result of keeping your word, your part of the deal. I have assisted numerous people in cleaning up their credit just by following the simple rule outlined in my response: keep your word, pay on time, and do not buy on emotion, but of need and buy only what you need not what you want. Wants buying get you in trouble, needs satisfy and work every time. ***I was bankrupt in 1985, but now score near perfect.
