A year ago, me and a friend went on a trip to another city. This friend (Dave) had his girlfriend with him. It was a great trip. We each got our own plane tickets and paid for our own meals. However, we decided to split a hotel room with a seperate bedroom and day bed in the living area. That way he and his girlfriend could have privacy. I slept on the day bed. We planned on spliting the room three ways. I agreed. However, the hotel charged his credit card and we decided to split the hotel when we returned home. Meanwhile, I loaned some money here and there to him(and his girlfriend) becuase they didn't always have cash. I paid for the taxi to the airport. When we returned home I paid him half the bill right away. He seemed to forget about the money I gave him. So I didn't expect it back. I sort of thought we were even. I have forgot about it over a year, now he says he wants the other have because he is moving into a new condo and needs money. I am a liittle annoyed. Do I owe him?
Ethical questions about friends and money: Do I owe the money? I am worryied about our friendship.?If you tell him no, it will only cause tension between you two and possibly ruin your friendship. I would recommend paying him the money and forgetting the whole thing. Just remember to never ever mix money and friendship no matter what the circumstances are...in the end it is just not worth the confusion and chaos.
