I work in Japan, as a full-time teaching assistant. My contract ends in August, but I may recontract if I like for another year. My fiancee teaches at another school and we live together. We're both straight out of college and making EXTREMELY good money (the equivalent of $46k in America) for such an easy job. I will have all of my student loans paid off by this summer, but my fiancee has a huge number of loans to pay off. She wants to stay another year to get all of her debt paid off and experience Japan further. I've lived here before, and this time was nothing special. Quite frankly, I'm not happy here, and I won't need the extra cash, but she definitely does. Separating is not an option.
On top of this, I desperately miss America and my friends and family are eagerly awaiting my return. I have nothing tethering me to Japan except my fiancee. However, if I decide not to stay, she said she will follow. I could go on and on, but space is limited. Any input is good.
I have a huge decision to make, which is the best?Well, her student loan debt will become your (plural) student loan debt later on.. so it might be in your best interests to stay and save as much of your pay as you can, and have her pay down as much as she can.. then return to America with extra cash and a moe secure financial future together. Good luck with what ever you do ..
I have a huge decision to make, which is the best?if its only a year do it stay!!> eventually she might have to make sacrifices for you..
