Hi. When I was 16 I had over 10 credit cards. I was able to open up all of them online and then found myself in debt. Now I am 19 and still have 2 of them that have remaining balances of $8,000 total. All of the other debts have been paid off. Am I obligated to pay for the other two credit cards even though I was under 18 when they originally issued them. Also everytime I check my financial information it states that I turned 18 two years ago. What do you reccomend that I do? I can pay off the $8,000 if needed.
Are you obligated to pay for a credit card if you are under 18?Well, go and convince the credit card companies that you defrauded that you don't owe them, and see how far you get. It will cost you a court appearance, court costs and attorney's fees, not to mention that your credit will be screwed up for years.
Pay them off. You need to.
Are you obligated to pay for a credit card if you are under 18?Why on Earth would you ever do that!
Legally to get a credit card requires a contract which to sign a contract you have to be of legal age, 18. I'm sure in all of the ten card sites it was disclosed to you that you must be 18 to open a credit card, even in the fine print that you probably just clicked the "read and agreed" box!
Pay off the debt.
