If you have recently got married, and applied for a credit card with your married name, not realising that the company that you applied with is one you had an outstanding debts with before you got married, how easy would it be for them to check up on that?
Credit Rating?I think your "national insurance number" is the equivelent to the U.S. "social security number". If the card company asked for that, then it is most likely how it will be tracked.

Credit Rating?I find it hard to believe there isn't some way for them to track your credit rating in the UK. If they didn't everytime you got married it would wipe your slate clean and they would constantly give credit cards to people with bad debt.
