Home buying/credit questionn?
The key to financial power lies in your credit rating. If you plan to get a home loan, save money and get better credit starting now!
My fiance and I were both left with some credit problems after our marriage. We are looking to buy a house withing the next year and with the sale of his place he will have a decent downpayment, but neither of have the best of credit. I know that our interest rates would be affected by this, but is there still hope in obtaining a loan?

Home buying/credit questionn? You need to review your credit to determine what kind of shape it is in. Despite the 'fallout' we are currently experiencing, there are still many financing options available. However, the lower the credit score, the higher the rate and costs. You will likely need to prove and provide documentation for employment and assets. The days of easy qualifications are all but gone.
Do your homework and take the time to clear up as much of the derogatory items as possible. It will save you money in the long run.

Home buying/credit questionn? Now is definitely the time to start working on your credit scores. The short way to do this is to:
1. Pay everything on time, every time.
2. Order your free report from each of the three credit bureaus and challenge every derogatory item.
3. Keep your revolving (credit card) accounts at 50% or less of the credit limits - ideally 30% or less.
Do the work now, and the reward will be the best rate and program that you can qualify for when the time is right.
