hi, i bought my wife a van for x-mas in 06, we seperated and she couldnt afford the payments so i was stuck with it. She is on the loan at a high % rate cause mine and her credit is not so great at all. The payments are way to high for me and i just dont want it anymore, im upside down on the car and need some advice on getting a cheaper car with a lower payment on it....PLEASE HELP....im a single father in school full time and need to get rid of this car.

He talked me into tradign in my car at the same time he traded in his truck. The two together balanced each other out. We each got new used-cars. I was happy to do it to help him get out of the bad situation.

If the car is in both your names you can't do anything without her signing a piece of paper too, so the two of you need to figure out a solution together. The best way to try to get rid of the car is to do a private sale, and then pay the bank back the difference. Since you dont own the car, this can be tricky. You could try going to carmax and selling the car to them, but you will get less than the car is worth and still wind up having to pay the remainder to the bank out of pocket.
