Debt up to my eyeballs!?
The key to financial power lies in your credit rating. If you plan to get a home loan, save money and get better credit starting now!
I owe $8000 to a credit card company, over half is in fees and interest. I was on a payment plan, but they submitted it to an attorney! I can't pay the $6000 settlement. I can't get a new loan because I am on three other credit payoff plans ($24,000 total). I have not been late on one payment in two years to any of these companies, yet METRIS turned me over to collection. All the other companies upheld their end of the deal, and reduced or eliminated many of the fees and interest. I have a letter from METRIS stating the plan, but now it is 'pay up'. The attorney says I have A+ credit and should have no problem obtaining a loan to pay them. If I don't pay, they will garnish my husband's wages. The debt plan I am on now we can just squeek by financially. I fear if more is taken out I just don't know how we would get by. We down-sized, drive used, now have 3 months pay in reserve for emergencies (we have no credit cards, nor do we want any more credit). We volunteer at soup kitchens, so we get alot of free food. So, I just don't know where else in the budget we can afford more to creditors.
Debt up to my eyeballs!?You need to find out if it is possible where you live for them to garnish the wages of your husband for the repayment of the debt. If it is not allowed in your state then that threat is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Good luck and don't let them railroad you.
