What is so bad about national health care?

I think it's a good idea. I don't make enough right now to afford health insurance, which is something like $200 a month. For me, that's a big chunk of my take-home...that is 1/3 of rent. I can't afford that. Luckily I'm young and healthy, but if I have a medical emergency, I'll go bankrupt. It would be nice if I could go to the doctor and pay a reasonable fee based on my income, with the government subsidizing it.
I don't believe in free handouts...I'm not on welfare, food stamps, or anything. The only thing I take are subsidized student loans (I have to pay them back) and veterans benefits (I served my time for these) I just think that health care should not be a benefit for the rich.
Then why do so many people hate the idea of "socialized" medicine?

Unfortunately, business has figured out how to buy off our political system.
Trust me, it only gets more expensive later in life. I do not have health care coverage either. It would cost me about 450.00 to 500.00 a month just for me or about 1100.00 to 1200.00 per month for a family.

It describes how other countries have successful universal heath care and how more vibrant their economies are compared to ours.
Are country is going down the toilet and I'm ashamed how complacent we have become with our political system. All we have to do is vote people out of office that does not believe in an universal health care but we have become so lazy the majority does not vote at all anymore.
