The reason I ask this is because I was diagnosed with cancer late last year. Although I have current health coverage for this, I have medical debt from a previous unrelated emergency. This medical debt is with the state since I was at a state university hospital. I also have assorted credit card debt and a few thousand dollars left over from federal college loans that I have been slow to pay back for various reasons, including lack of employment. So I am quite interested in hearing if we get married and I die, would my fiancee(by then she would be my wife) be held responsible for any or all of my debt? And, in a strange twist of fate, we already have a son together. Would my son be responsible for my debt if I died?
