Travellers checks can only be exchanged at a major bank...and there is a fee associated with it...to include a reduced exchange rate....the key to ATM's are to withdraw enough $ to last for a few days....the $4. per will be less than you would spend with the bank checks and the time spent cashing them in. And dont even think about changing them at the hotel

There will be a service charge if you use any other currency exchange service, either paid upfront or in the exchange rate.
Try looking for a bank with lower overseas withdrawal charges, like Citibank for example. Check around.

ATMs, Travellers Checks or Credit Car in BKK?????your going to pay a fee no matter what type of service you use. credit card companys also charge a fee for international purchases. still the best I found is using your ATM card. the reason the fee for atm now is the baht has both ae on shore and off shore rate, banks overseas are losing money each time you make a withdrawal and thai banks are making an extra profit from it.
