If you absolutely don't have the willpower to wait and save the money, the $1000 credit card isn't a horrible choice. At least it caps the amount that you can spend. But you have to make all payments on time, and pay ahead whenever you can - never charging anything else. At least you will have an asset that is worth something if you are unable to make the payments. If nothing else you could resell the guitar and get some money back to pay off the card.

Its great advice. If you foresee any potential problems, I would just simply save up or shop around. If all is well and your job is stable. Go for it. Unfortunately, in this country most things require good credit scores.

You said you got denied for loans. When you got denied did they give you the reasons why? You probably should work on fixing those before you apply for another credit card. The chances are that if you got denied for a loan(depending on what type), you probably will be declined for a new credit card. Now if you are able to get the other credit card, DO NOT close it. This will actually be bad for your score.
