Undergraduate Sophomore in Business (more precisely, Marketing)
Recent realization: LOVES writing, only lukewarm about a carreer in Marketing.
Knowledge: that a degree in marketing is only the fastest way to a sales position; not to an advertising one (my favorite aspect of the field).
Options:
1) Stick to my current major at a relatively unknown business college here in Canada.
2) Try my damnedest to switch to a US university for a degree in English (hopefully Yale to which I was admitted a year ago but couldn't go to. (implies a 5-figure student loan).
3) pick another more specialized college for a career in writing (screenplays and tv shows ideally)
Feel free to suggest any other options.
Decide my next BIG life choice?If you don't have other responssblities such as children or spouse, I would bite the bullet and get that loan, go to Yale, and finish a career in whatever. The college name will definitely open doors even if you major does not relate to the job offer.

You don't want to burden yourself with an enormous student loan at Yale which you will spend the next 25 years paying back and probably not getting equal return on the investment. 1 doesn't sound promising either since it clearly isn't your PASSION in life and you will not be inspired. 3 definitely sounds like the best option for it will enable you to specialize in what you love for a relatively cheap price too. Donald Trump said on Larry King the other day that people need to love something in order to excel at it and you should keep that in mind when making your next big life decision.
