The reality is that small firms might likely offer you a few options. However, small firms are not going to pay you anywhere near where you would need to be in order to pay off your loans. Moreover, you will work like a slave and ultimately have what many of us refer to as "the worst of all worlds"----no money, too much work/stress, and no respect.
The public sector might present a few options, but they are few and you need to show a strong interest in such service in order to get any serious consideration. That said, even if you are successful (remember, you will be competing against graduates from better schools who maybe didn't do very well, but still came from a better school, so you will need to be a "star" at your school to even get considered), you can expect to earn less than someone with only a good B.A./B.S. from a good school.
As far as going out on your own is concerned, you will need money and/or credit to make a decent go at it. How will you pay for an office? A secretary? Even business cards? Remember, the student loan folks are not nice! As you are clearly able to obtain the private student loans, you likely have good credit at this point. If you don't start bringing in the sort of bucks that will allow you to meet those obligations six months out (when the loans come due...and this is a short time after the bar), then you can kiss that credit score goodbye and make sure that you have caller id on every phone in your name, as these folks will hunt you down like Elmer Fudd chasing rabbits!
