You may very well have to *be* snotty with them. Or, they'll see it that way. Be firm and direct: you did not sign papers with them, stop calling, this is harassment, etc. Check with your phone company and the police about reporting them after you tell them in no uncertain terms to stop bothering you. What I would do, well, I can't tell you, tain't legal.
Reference problems??!?!?Tell them that you are not her keeper and you demand that they stop calling you. They have no right to harass you over her bills. Also, tell her to stop using you as a reference. Next time someone calls concerning her, tell them that you don't know her. Get the police involved if need be. It will be a hassle to change your number, but maybe you should do that as well.
