My fiancee and I bought furniture less than 4 years ago from a large furniture chain store. It has all but fallen apart. The cushions are lumpy and frumpy, the seams have all come apart and they're not comfy anymore. (We are not rough on these items, they are just poor quality). We want all new furniture including coffee/end tables. We're not poor but we're not rich (paying off student loans, rent, etc). Should we just get new furniture and try and get 0% financing from a reputable store? Or should we keep this junk as it looks HORRIBLE. (We're really mad about how they fell apart so fast).
Should we buy all new furniture?Well I would replace it one piece at a time, worst piece first. Maybe two pieces if you need to reach a certain dollar amount for 0%. Hopefully you remember the brand you bought 4 years ago. It would be worth doing a little research to see if it is still under warranty. Some of my furniture has 5-10 year warranties. Can we say "FREE FURNITURE"? :-)
Should we buy all new furniture?Well, if you buy furniture with 0% same as cash for x amt of months you have to pay it off in that time. If you do not pay off the debt by the end of x months, then they tack on a hefty intersest rate that has accumulated since the day you bought it. If you do pay it off in time, then you have no intersest rate to pay and you just payed the cost of furniture. I have used this option a few times and payed it off with our tax refund, or just made sure I paid a specific amt. each month to have it payed off in time.
