Should we buy all new furniture? As a stop-gap measure, you could consider getting some foam and slipcovers and simply covering up the old/lumpy furniture.
You'd put the foam down over the lumpy parts and then put the slip covers (which can sometimes be pricey, but are certainly not as much as new furniture).
Plus, they're washable, so they can be kept clean and new looking.
That way, you can focus first on replacing the coffee and end tables with quality products and eventually... once those loans are reduced a bit... you can get new furniture.
For a a fraction of the price, you could have practically new furniture. Also, that way, if you find really comfortable, good quality furniture somewhere used... but you hate the pattern... you already have the slip covers to put on them and keep the same look in your living room.
