I'm Disabled and on Social Security- Can I be sued?

You need to look elsewhere in terms of legal service.
I'm Disabled and on Social Security- Can I be sued?In 15 years you could not get this resolved? I can understand the school deciding it is time sue you. Did you ever even submit any paperwork - expired or not?
Yes, a person on SSI or SSDI can be sued, but they can't get blood out of a turnip. The amount you have to pay can't be more than a certain percentage of your income (I can't remember how much.) If they win the lawsuit the money could be paid to them directly and you would get a smaller check.
There are a number of things you could have done along the way that might have helped - but it is too late now. My loans were too high and I signed up to pay only what I could afford to pay - so I submit my taxes each year and they decide how much I pay. I don't even pay the yearly interest. But I am paying exactly what I am supposed to. It all gets written off when I am 65 and I expect I will still owe what I do now if not more.
ETA: You don't want the truth, don't ask for it. I am disabled and work part-time. I likely make less income working than you do on SSI & SSDI and all I had to do was apply for the income contingency program. No proof of disability status required. No lawyers needed. Just proof of income. This is probably exactly the program you will end up after being sued - except it will be court-ordered rather than voluntary.
