I think that I'd like to take the plunge and become a loan officer. I am about to pay about $294.00 for this training. People keep telling me there are "free" programs out there, however I haven't come across any. Any suggestions?
Before signing up for a loan officer class, around how much do most instituions charge? The only class that you need to take to become a Loan Officer is what ever is required of your state to become liscensed. In several states there are no licensing requirements. I'm not sure what is "legal" on "un-legal" about a loan officer training class.
Being a Loan Officer is one of the few things left in the world that is not over-credentialized. That is changing with all of the scrutiny in the industry.
No one is teaching a "How to Become a Loan Officer in 7 days or Less," class for free. If anyone is taking thier time to do that they expect to get paid. What the quality of the class is I can't say. Do you know anyone else has taken the class? Who is the sponsoring agency? Is this a state ran class or ran by a private institution?
FYI, where I live we have never needed classes to become a LO until 2007 when new LO's needed to attend classes to become licensed. The classes are sponsored by the sate but ran at community college's and the like. They cost about $400. Up until then new LO's were simply hired given about a days worth of in house training and then set loose on the world.
