Paying a referral fee on mortgage loans is a violation of RESPA. You'd need to be an employee of the loan officer in order to receive any compensation, or if you're a licensee, you could also have your license hung with the mortgage broker. Anyone who would take you up on the above arrangement isn't someone you'd want to get into a business relationship with.

If your a broker you can make an arraingement with any other broker that you wish; however as stated above paying a commission to a sales person is unethical and illegal.
