I don't give into any pressure - I don't feel any pressure. Christmas for our family is about traditions. The presents aren't important. We'd rather share time baking, decorating, cooking, eating and enjoying each other's company. I decided a long time ago I'm leading by example. I've seen other parents up to their eyeballs in hock, and spoiled ungrateful kids who don't appreciate the gifts they've received. I'd like my child to grow up and share the same joyful experiences I've had with my family vs. struggling to live up to an image the media blasts into our homes year after year after year. Just because we see it on the boob tube doesn't mean we all must live that way. They want us to shop. They want us to buy into all of the hype and junk they're peddling to the masses this time of the year everywhere from magazines to the radio. I won't cave to that pressure, either. My focus isn't on the gift side of the holiday - it's all about the Love. :) Happy holidays to you.
Honestly.do you give into pressure , and buy your children all they want for xmas even though you?I can't understand why people spend copious amounts of money on their kids like that.
I had a boyfriend some years ago - at the time his daughter was 12, the year I was with him he bought her her entire christmas list and then some - totally ignoring the fact that his mother and his daughters mother had both done the same.
