She was so spoiled she appreciated none of it. I remember her opening her ipod nano - again I remind you she was only 12! did she say thanks? No she said "oh my god my friends are going to be sooooooo jealous" erm yeah cos that is what its all about isn't it? Rubbing it in to your mates who didn't get the latest mobile phone, an ipod nano, 2 wardrobes full of clothes, some playstation games, a globe, a chocolate fountain, 2 pairs of trainers, accessories for the ipod, hair straighteners . . . . (need I go on - the list is longer!)

I have to say I was sickened and our relationship did not last much longer as it was clear we did not share the same values.

My current partner is not like that thankfully and I know my children will recieve reasonable gifts within the bounds of what we can afford.

I have a very strict budget and stick to it. I remember one year someone asking my son what he had for Christmas - this was on boxing day, he couldn't remember. Obviously he had too many pressies and could not focus on any one of them.

You poor Dolly!! I hope you don't have to borrow from those guys again. That's terrible. My kids don't give me any pressure. Christmas at our house is pretty low key. It's not about quantity, but quality, and good times and fun and games.
