My curent credit score is 511. I have been paying ALL my bills on time for 8 months now and have also cleared 2 defaults, but my score isnt improving. Ihave registered with experian and have been keeping a close eye on all my accounts. However my score isnt improving at all. i have made 2 applications for credit in the last 6 months and both have been accepted, 1 catalouge and a loan with welcome finance. I know welcomes % rate is high but im thinking of useing them to consoladate my open accounts down to 1. Is this a bad idea?? will it help my score bringing 5 acounts down to 1?

My credit rating is awful.?If you consolidate, do not close the other accounts, just don't use them. The higher percentage rate of open but unused credit you have, the better. Also, the longer your credit history the better. If you close the older accounts, your credit history will therefore be shorter. Also, 8 months is not long enough for any late payments, etc. to fall off your credit. Keep your diligence and it will pay off.
