I currently have a 7.99% loan on my car for 60 months. I've made two payments so far. I don't have any problems with the monthly payments but would like to get better rates. When I checked my credit score a year ago it was in the high 700's, and I haven't done anything that would have changed it dramatically. I'm planning on checking my score again this year from Fico to see how it's doing.

So my question is, if my credit is a little bit better, should I refinance it now? Or should I wait until I have made a couple more payments to build up credit? I

'm not looking to extend the length of the loan, in fact, if I can get a better rate I might even consider shortening the loan to maybe 48 months. Can I even do that? Or do you always have to extend it?

No

.. the only time you would want to refinance a loan after only 2 months is if you had to take a cash rebate and a high interest rate when you bought the car new. ...because they never let you take the low rate and the cash.... You already paid 2 payments and you haven't lowered your principal balance yet. Unless you can get a ridiculously low rate like 4.9%, you will be better off keeping your loan as it is..

you can refy it any time you like, I refied mine within the first month cuz my bank offered my a way better rate. Do what you want, its your car.
