I just brought my car last year. now, i did not buy the car with any warranty(dumb) and i have had the vehicle for a year and seven months. so i did some investigation and did a car fax on my car. now the dealer told me that my car was just a Leased vehicle which was true. but i also found out that before that, it was sold at an auction, and before thath it was a Fleet rental car. it is a 2005 Ford Taurus which it was only a year old when i brought it last year plus it was certified. i also found out that eventhough it was a 2005 vehicle, it came off of the production line and was out on the dealership lot in the beginnig of 2004! i also see the history on this vehicle stating it had a LOAN/LIEN on it. this is what the meaning of Loan/lien was stating =a vehicle will have a lien due to a loan or unpaid repair bill against the vehicle. so what my question is, does it sound like i was sold a car that had a problem with it and they were just covering it up. Please give me your insights?

Before you get lawyer crazy, here is insight from a dealer-

That was kinda dumb to buy an expensive car like that (compared to a $3,000 or $5,000 car) with no warranty.

Most vehicles that are a current model year were made the year before. For example, Toyota is currently building thier 2009 Corollas, and 2008 has barely begun!

The carfax report was showing the lien because the original purchaser had a lien on it, which was probably the rental company. The lien simply means the rental company borrowed money from a bank or other financial institution in order to pay for the car, which was likely paid off before your dealership bought that car. Prior liens do not affect you unless they were not paid, and even still I wouldn't fret too much over it.
