I have one last payment that was given to me by a bank on a mobile home I have been paying on for 15 years. The final payment was a huge surprise of 3200 dollars. I have just made the deadline. I mailed it yesturday they said it was due by the 15th of March then the sheriff would be come to put the home for sale. I called my representative with the loan company to tell them I have mailed the final payment. Then he tells me there is another 50 dollar charge. Nowhere on this letter that I received from them does it say that I will be billed another 50 doollars after a certain date. It says the 3200 dollars must be paid by the 15 of March.I faxed him the copy of the letter I received and he tells me I still owe him another 50 dollars.
I am worried now that because I did not send the payment certified that they will hold onto it until after that date and screw me.
does anyone know what my legal rights are to this situation or any ideas at all.
Legal question?Date of check will offer some protection; but get them the 50 dollars. Messing around with it after the fact makes more sense than losing the home over 50 bucks or racking up MORE fees.
Legal question?Pay the $50 and stop wasting time asking questions about it and complaining. AFTER you've paid and it's all behind you, you can call them and contest the $50. If you're right, you'll get it back. If you're wrong, no harm done.
