On Administrative Leave...Am I being fired?

I am 2 months pregnant and did not tell anyone at work yet. I have been having complications and my doctor told me for the next few weeks to stay in bed when at home, not even go out to go shopping, just rest. I work as a loan officer and sit all day except every time I have a customer I have to get up and walk around to go grab various things for them (documents, debit cards etc). I was told to just sit at work and not walk around.
I told my boss without telling him what is going on, that I need to sit and if people can help me grab documents etc. Today after I sent an email to my boss asking him to please grab me the documents I got a call from HR placing me on adminstrative leave until I get a doctor's note explaining what I can and can't do in regards to my job. I am not to return to work until my doctor faxes it to my HR dept.
I have only worked for the company for 3.5 months and didnt plan on getting pregnant. I fear I am going to be fired for telling my boss I need help.
On Administrative Leave...Am I being fired? You cannot legally be fired for being pregnant. Your mistake was in not telling them that you are pregnant. They can take disciplinary action against you if you are excessively absent, or if your work declines, and they don't know that it's due to pregnancy. They can't be held responsible for not knowing information that you didn't tell them.
The administrative leave may be due to your requesting a special accommodation without a doctor's letter. This is not unusual. It's a requirement in some companies that I've worked for. The company may fear liability if you have an illness or disability that is exacerbated by allowing you to continue working. The doctor's letter is important so that they know if you can safely work and under what conditions. Get the letter and tell your employer the real reason so that you are legally protected if you continue to need time off or need to work with restrictions.
