Learning to DIY is fun and saves money. There are numerous books and helpful websites to assist you. Get a Home Inspector to find any major problems with the house. You can get Home Improvement loans. Most lenders will not finance over the value of the home at the time of purchase. Know your limits. Don't jump into a major job (replacing all the electrical or plumbing) if you have no experience. There are Codes that need to be met. These are jobs you contract out. AC can be added and if the current heating system is old, you may want to replace it all at one time. The Inspector can shed light on this.
