I'm living in Illinois, I'm going to New Jersey to buy a car from someone I met online with good specs and good price and low mileage. What documents do I need him to sign. He told me that I need to pay him with a check (when I go there).
He told me that he's financing the car and needs to pay the loan to get the title.
What should I do? advice? any particular form I need to take with me before going to him?
Buying a financed car out of state? It's his responsibility to pay off the loan before he sells you the car. Don't give him anything unless he has the title.
OR:
The easiest approach is to contact the lender yourself and inquire about the process. It's a routine process for them, and they can guide you though the steps you need to take. It's also a good idea to check out the title and vehicle registration requirements on your state's department of motor vehicles Web site.
Buying a financed car out of state?call his finance co. & pay it off, so they can send u the new title/pink slip. get it in writing from current owner, that he no longer has interest in car & be on phone together w/ finance co. to give ur info for new ownership.
