Do I need a realtor?
The key to financial power lies in your credit rating. If you plan to get a home loan, save money and get better credit starting now!
If you do decide to get a Realtor don't tell them what you liked about the house you see, tell them what you didn't like such that the Realtor can avoid showing you anything like it in the future (to avoid wasting both of your time). Sometimes you need to be proactive to keep your Realtor focused on what you are looking for, after all, you are the boss!
Do I need a realtor? If they are on the MLS a realtor is already involved. The realtors are both paid by the seller, double the commission if there is only one.
A retired realtor actually could not tell you if you were paying a good price or not, she would not have the MLS access that she would need (you are just seeing a tiny part of it).
As far as loans, shop around anyway, friend or no friend, we are talking about a major thing here.
Do I need a realtor?YES. It is best to speak to a professional, as a buyer its not your responsibility to cover your agents fee. That's what is so great about buying real estate! It would be in your best interest to have a professional represent you. Attending open houses are fine although its best to have the agent you choose with you. Because sellers agents have a fiduciary responsibility to their clients, And may not disclose all facts or try and get more than the homes true value etc. This is not how all agents operate although I believe many do. Any professional you choose should have a list of questions narrowing down what is most important in your home buying experience before you even need to meet with one another.
