It seems rediculous that they can impound your car for not having your insurance card in the car, without getting you a short timeline to prove you had insurance. Unless there is a law against not having the card in your car at all times. Then you might be SOL.
HELP!! My car was impounded for not having my insurance card in the car!!?Wow don't know exactly where you live but in the state I live in you have 24 hours to produce your insurance card. I didn't have mine with me when my brakes went out last winter and I bumped another car, but I told him, the officer, I had it, who it was with, and I have their number in my cell phone. He said when he gave me the ticket to make sure I show that I have proof when I went to court if I needed to. I'm sorry for your predicament but don't be afraid to make some calls!!! Does the officer have a superior you can talk to about this? Maybe you can plead your case and see if something can be done but depending on where you live anymore, automatic impounding is beginning to be the norm!! Good luck and I hope you come up with some type of resource to get your car out!!!
HELP!! My car was impounded for not having my insurance card in the car!!?Call your dealer and have him "repo" it - since he IS the lien-holder, the impound lot will normally let him have it and then work out the $500 fee and storage fees with the dealer.
Some will work with you and some won't!
