Also, don't talk to your creditors. It will only make you feel worst. Buy an answering machine to screen your calls. If you quit taking their calls they will stop calling eventually.
I would speak to a bankruptcy attorney as soon as possible. It's not the end of the world. Life does get better.
Good luck.
Help for middle class family trying to make ends meet.?Payday loans are not the answer. You're losing more money that way. Another loan is NOT the answer. Cut back on everything and I mean everything. If it's not a necessity of life you don't need it right now. Take a look around your house and sell anything of value. Sell the big toys. Sell things you never use. Sell anything you can do without. Stop eating out. Turn off the cable and the internet. Cut off the cell phones. Stop smoking (if you smoke). Stop drinking pop, water is better for you. Stop eating out at lunchtime and start brown bagging. Stop doing anything that isn't a necessity. Figure out exactly where your money goes every month. You should make a budget plan that gets you out of debt and stick to it until it's done! If you are making 80k a year, paying off 15k in one year shouldn't be a problem. You budget plan should include the mortgage, utilities, food, gas and credit bills. Pay the minimum on everything except bill with the highest interest rate. Pay as much as you possibly can on it until it's paid off. When you pay it off, take that amount and add it to the minimum on the next highest interest rate and so on. After you work out a budget plan, call each creditor and explain the situation and what you will be able to pay monthly, most of them will work with you.Ask them if they can lower the interest rate to help you out a little. Do NOT close the accounts. This is the only way to get your credit score back up to par and whatever you do, never get into debt again! Don't feel bad, there are many in your boat. I was nearly in your boat about 3 years ago (our payments were not behind, just a struggle and we have 4 kids!) and we're almost debt free now except the mortgage (2 more payments on a truck..wooohoo) We save more than we spend now and things are great. The government is about to issue checks for families for $1600. Do not let them tell you how to spend it! Go ahead and pay on some of that credit!! It's your money!! Once you get out of debt, pay more into your retirement fund and start a college fund for your child. Start enjoying the "free" things in life with your husband and child....parks, library, visiting friends....There is so much to do and enjoy that doesn't cost you a penny. Change your outlook on life and your life's outlook will change! Good luck and hang in there....you can do it!
