Can Collection Agencies take OSAP? Please input!?You wouldn't think so, but they must have some rules they have to follow. Why doesn't she just offer to make monthly payments to the collection agency? that would be alot easier than what she is going through now.
Can Collection Agencies take OSAP? Please input!?If she owes for a bank-issued credit card or a number of other debts for which the collection agency has received judgement, the collection agency (among other agencies) can take any money from her bank account that is there.
The fact that it is OSAP money makes no difference whatsoever. Not only can she not get it back, OSAP will not assist her to recover the money or to replace it.
My suggestion is that she open another bank account for her next OSAP. Either that or do not provide any banking information when she negotiates her next OSAP and they will mail her a cheque instead of doing direct deposit.
