Hi,

I need some help

I was doing business with my friend and opened a joint account with him. Unfortunately, the business did not work well so we split ways but the account was still active for 5 months after we split in business terms.

But he used my information that he obtained from the joint account to obtain student loans for amount of $35,000 from different corporations and signed infact forged my signature as a cosigner, I want to press charges,? What can be the consequences, Please provide me with some advice or suggestions.?

You first need to file a police report and notify the bank of what has happened. Also the police should provide you with an identity theft packet. Complete the packet and notify all the corporations and loan companies of what has happened and provide them with proof. The police can tell you how to proceed.

File a police report if you haven't yet. Do it immediately. You need to establish a date of discovery on the theft.
