So my college offered me a subsidized Federal Stafford Loan, but they only offered about $1,200. The max limit for a *sub* FSL is about $2,000+..I accepted the $1,200 but since I felt like accepting the loan was a great choice, how do I apply for more until it reaches the max subsidized limit? I went on the website and filled out the application and it made me electronically sign a few papers..but there was no where to write down how much I would like to borrow. Now I'm scared 'cause what happens if the lender decides to give me more money than I needed, thus making me pay more afterwards since it might pass the sub limit???

But in order to be sure and to be sure that your applications were accepted you need to call the service that provides your loan and contact you schools financial aid department as soon as possible.

The bad thing about the system is that it ALWAYS assumes that your parents are going to help you pay for your education.
If you need more, unfortunately you will have to pay it out of your own pocket or take out a loan from a bank.
