I just started grad school and am frustrated with my financial situation and social life. Financially, I'm living off of student loans and work about 15 hrs./week. My loan is disbursed in two payments and I barely have enough to pay bills from the first disbursement (The bigger disbursement is coming up in a month). Because of this, I'm borrowing money from my parents and boyfriend which burdens me a lot and had caused a few arguments. Secondly, I live an hour from my school and an hour+ from most of my friends. Even though I've made efforts several times to visit them, none of them make an effort to come visit me in the city where I live. It's been very frustrating bc when they want to do something, it's either on their time and place OR with their boyfriends OR I don't have any money to spend on gas to go visit. I'm thinking of joining a leisure class after I get the second loan to meet some people, but for right now I'm just frustrated and feel like nobody cares! Any advice?
Grad student frustrated with financial, social situation. Advice?Yep- this is an easy one.
Study with people. One of the best friends I ever had was a guy I knew in grad school. Me, I'm the problem solver, big picture person. I knew HOW to do the problems, he would check my work. We had great discussions. We laughed, we argued, we agreed, we reasoned, we ordered take out to get through those long problem sets (mmm... cheap pizza).
