I was originally given around $4000 in financial aid at the beginning of the spring semester but it has now just been taken back because I haven't completed enough credits yet. I need to pay off the $4000 hold on my account before I can schedule my classes for the fall (I am registered to schedule on the 19th of April). I have received Stafford/AES/etc. loans before, but I'm not aware that I can get money from them in the middle of a semester. My mom belongs to a credit union where I can get a loan, but I have to start paying it monthly right after I receive it, where with a normal student loan, payment doesn't start until after graduation. What are my best options for getting a quick loan in the middle of a semester that I hopefully won't have to pay back until after graduation?
I need a loan for school and fast. Best place to start?Contact your financial aid department to see if the loans you received are still good. If you refused them on the award letter, you may not be able to get them.
Also see if you can pick up another class if it is just one you're missing so you can keep the aid. A lot of professors will let you do an independent study mid-semester on (you can take an incomplete until you work through the summer or something, if there isn't enough time to do the projects or research they need).
Last, if neither of those work, you may need to get a job so you can make loan payments on the loan from your Mom's credit union. Then get a student loan next semester to pay off the balance.
