Major frustration here and sounding off as well as looking to see if anyone out there has had a similar problem or suggestions for handling the situation.
We refied in May to pay debt. The Escrow company sent us the checks with the debtors addresses on them to send out. Out of about a dozen checks, one has come up "missing" and unaccounted for, and it's not just a couple hundred $$ its almost $11k!!
The check was sent to Academic Education Services to pay off a student loan. They've not received it and now I'm almost in default and have a lawyer calling to collect.
My steps thus far: We called to make sure that yes the check had cleared escrows bank and we have that date...not good enough for AES. Then we had to have escrow fax a copy of front and back of the check to AES...still not good enough, looks like it went to some other bank than theirs. We did some searching and found that a routing number on the back of the checks tells us that the checks was processed through...
They've Lost My Check!!?Well until AES gets a cleared check, they will consider you to have owed the money. The escrow company will have to contact their bank and get information on whose account it did go to. If all else fails, write to your state's attorney general's office with a complaint.
They've Lost My Check!!?Are the funds missing from yuour account? If not...call your bank, cancel the lost check and write another one. This time send it FedEx Certified. HOw could you put an 11k check in an envelope????? Sigh!
They've Lost My Check!!?yeah youll ahve to do all the work to clear it all up cause neither of the other parties care. It effects you so you will be the one to have to figure it all out and it probably wont be easy, good luck
